I just finished up the retrofit in my car and have figured out that the maps are from 2011. I double checked and I have the circle with a check mark in the lower left corner of the map and I believe that means I can update the maps via the USB port in the glove box.

I've pulled down the 2019 NA Map update and am in the process of acquiring a 32gb usb to put it on. I've also pulled the 1b hex from the unit and ran it through the fsc generator and have an update code.

But I read somewhere that this takes a while to update (stands to reason since you can't process 27gb of data into an IDE drive but so fast).

But how long does it take? I generally have a 5 hour commute on Monday mornings and was wondering if it will update while I'm driving?

30 or so minutes if nothing goes to sleep. If sleep happens, it picks up where it left off. So doing it on your drive is not a bad idea.

I updated to 2018-1 last year and just did 2019-1 a few weeks ago. Each time it took about 55 minutes give or take 5-10 min. It's a little quicker with the 1 flash drive version.

I bought my E92 two years ago and updated from Maps '09 to '17 with one flash drive and it took about an hour.
