JB3 Review

First of all, I need to give mad props to my new friend Kyle (e90AW335i), who did the install for me. WOW was he fast--whole thing took less than 20 minutes. Put the JB3 in, fired my 135 up--no codes or anything. Thanks again buddy.

We met in Chicago, so I had a to "wait" a little bit to start enjoying my new tune. Downtown was pretty busy for a Sunday. Once I got out of traffic, and out onto the SB Lake Shore Drive, I could really get some WOT pulls in and get the car adapted.

As others have stated, the JB3 is a monster! My car pulls so hard that it is really a noticeable difference. Being a member of the Progman 29.2 club, I can definately say the lag is reduced--I was able to bark the tires in 1st gear with all the nannies ON--never been able to do this prior to the JB3.....

3rd gear is now my favorite in the car--I had about 120 miles to drive to get back home, and boy did I make the most of them. Cruising along at 75-80 and hammering it into 3rd is now a whole new experience--the car just pulls like crazy and wants to keep going and going.....I had some fun with a Z06 on the interstate--not sure how hard he was trying, but he couldn't pull away from me up to ~100 or so.....

I also want to thank Terry for making such a great product. There were some issues with my first install--not with the JB3, but with the shop attempting to put it in--and he was awesome about trying to get them to resolve the issue. Great customer service--he was on the phone with both them and me for a couple of hours that day--can't thank him enough.

So, with a little over 150 miles on my JB3 experience, I have to give it a big thumbs up. Great power, adapts very quickly, and looked pretty easy to install. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a tune.

You're in Indy?? Love to see first hand the performance of the JB3.
I'm on the NE side, there are a couple of E92 335i up here and one M3.

I actually live in Warsaw--but I am in Indy a lot on the weekends. My whole family lives down there.....

It would be fun to get together and do some runs--if you are on the fence about the JB3, seeing it in action is the best thing!

The cost should be $50 for 20min LOL but Driver has to take off the engine covers and ecu cover and put it back on.

Since I am a mechanical moron, I was more than willing to pay Kyle.

A little OT, but I didn't know there are scoops available for the 135. How do you like them?

Well Eloy thought they would just be fine for the 135--he actually developed them for RPI's E90 335--and they DO fit, but I think the shop that put them in for me had to make a few adjustments to make them work....

In all honesty, I am not sure what I can "tell" from the intake/scoop combo (I have the Afe)....there is a definate change in the overall sound of the car, it seems louder. I would also tend to agree that the throttle response is improved, but I don't know by how much.

One thing I did notice last night driving home from the install--my car was running noticeably cooler than it had been on the way to Chicago. And I ran the dog piss out of it on my way back to Indiana--never got above 240 on the oil temp....

I am glad I have the scoops for sure though--it seems like my engine is not having to work as hard to breathe, especially with the JB3 now....not sure if it is all in my head, but that's how I feel.

Plus, the red looks awesome behind the grill on my AW 135.

Not sure bout the warmup, but the lower temps overall seem to be holding true--same thing today....

I would venture to guess that this would be an advantage when it is super hot outside, or if you are running the car hard at the track.....

i have heard that cars when pushed run cooler with JB3....
i have not really noticed this (yet?), but my car does seem to take longer to warm up...maybe it is the JB3 and/or my catless dps.

I do this for free and have on many occasions. Heck, I even installed downpipes for free as I thought we were all here for the same purpose. That is one of the reasons for the community here. It also follows BMWCCA ideals of helping each other out (the reason why they have an annual book with fellow enthusiast name and number who are willing to help other locals).

Regardless and IMO, these types of things should be free to fellow enthusiast and I will always continue to do as such.
