Cool just left court and won traffic ticket, always fight them!

Woo hoo, take that coppers

I had a 2 point going through a "RED" light guilty as hell, but since I fought it the prosecutor said he blows through red lights all the time and dropped it to impeeding. Same fine but NO points...

Points suck and are what gets you in the end...

So this is the 4th ticket in a row i fought and Won. So if you ever get a moving violation always attempt to fight it. You have nothing to lose.

Sorry I don't think you won. Your still paying the fine which is all they wanted in the first place. But good job getting them to change the charge.

lost case ... but no points = win

court time = waste of time and time is money.

blowing thru red lights... not the best thing to do.

Or you could just not try and weasel your way out of breaking the law which you clearly admitted to in your post.

Lucky we don't live in Finland or maybe it was Sweden where supposedly traffic fines are levied as a % of your income.

Being a more conservative driver than some here (perhaps many?) and, perhaps,a little luckier than most,I've only had one moving violation ticket in my life.I was guilty but I fought it.Fortunately the local paper ran a story a few days before my court date proving that the town's PD had a quota for their beat cops to fulfill for traffic tickets (it printed a copy of a conifidential memo from the Chief) so,armed with that story,I told the judge I didn't do it and presented the article.

Result....not guilty. And it was about 30 years ago so the statute of limitations has already expired.

You're lucky. In my neck of the woods just about every moving violation there is (including having an expired inspection sticker) carries a big fine (I think I read that the smallest fine in the state is $100) *and* a huge surcharge on your insurance for,IIRC,six years.A surcharge that can be hundreds per year.

I think that "points" mean,in most states at least,a surcharge on your insurance as well as the fine itself. If that's true in the OP's state then he did win...partially.But then, having worked in an ER for years I've seen first hand what running a red light can cause.

If you pay for your own insurance and know how much the insurance companies can charge for each point (by me anyways), you would consider it a win. I was guilty hence why I had no issue paying fine. I got paid to be there, vday from work i had to use anyway. And then add in the fact that i didnt have to pay the cash for an additional 7 weeks from due date when i was suppose to, again i take that as a win.

Dictionary wise its a plea, but in reasons i stated above it was a win. And the point of my thread was to "always" fight a moving violation if you can, since i guess depending on where you live, it cant hurt.

I am a good driver overall, but who doesnt speed, go through a yellow/red light, turn right on no turn on red, etc?

I SHOULD POINT OUT THOSE 4 TICKETS WERE SPREAD OUT OVER 10 YEARS...

Man up and stand for what you've done. But anyhow I think you did, since you only fought points and not the fine in the end

In Sweden fines are not that bad, at least the standard ones.
In Norway I don't speed ever, they have some hefty standardfines.
Switzerland do have some serious fines, when you do fun stuff on public roads.

I always lawyer up. at $100 a pop, its cheaper than paying $200+ plus higher insurance.

So far (2010) I am 4 for 4 in winning my cases.

Lots of people speed, but that's slightly different than running red lights or making turns on reds, etc... Going 50 in a 45 isn't the same as running a red light and possibly side swiping a vehicle.

So, while yes they are all unlawful to do, going a few MPH over the speed limit doesn't have the same inherit safety issues as running lights does.

In my state, the points are simply signposts on the road to losing one's license - 8 pts. in 2 years = suspension; 12 = revocation.

The insurance companies generally look instead at the number of moving violations in a 3 year period. So the OP hasn't won much, unless he already had a significant number of points and was close to a suspension.

Either way, he may wish to rethink his general approach to driving.

The house always wins.

In this case, the state won. They got their funds and (incorrectly) felt that the OP was not a "hazard to navigation" and let him slide on the points.

Since when is the fact that the police are too busy to send out a car to help me when I'm being harrased in front of my own house because they have 20 cars out writing tickets honorable? Screw the traffic court system and get what ever you can out of it. They are more dirty than you will ever imagine.

I had a judge when I was 17 tell my mom that I was probably speeding and didnt know it and said my car probably had big wheels on it and I didnt know the speedo was off. -I was driving my moms Toyota, which she promptly told him.
Screw them..Every Single corrupt one of them.

Well again, in my state insurance goes by points on ones license. So imo I won. The prosecutor could have been a dick and made me pay the fine and have the 2 points added to my record. But when he even admitted to me that he breaks the same law/s. I felt like he was understanding and actually a cool guy for being honest with me.

How many people here are being 100% honest before stating something about the way im driving or being reckless?
